In der Basis 3zeil. lat. Legende „IO. DAVID KOELERVS | Hist[oriarum] et Polit[ices] P[rofessor] P[ublicus,] Bibliothecarius, et h[oc] t[empore] Rector | in Universitate Altdorfina.“ Darunter 6 distich. lat. Verse von Gottfried Thomasius (1660–1746), Arzt u. Polyhistor in Nürnberg [A 21884-87]: Purpurea illustris spectatur epomide Rector, / Atra cui exustus nomina carbo dedit. / Recta sed ingenuus commendat pectora candor, / Laurus et in celebri Delphica fronte viret. / Omnis Aristippum decuit color. Ipsa Colero / Ex omni adsignat Musa colore decus. (Glänzend im purpurnen Umhang sieht man hier als Rektor den, dem die verbrannte Kohle den rußigen Namen gab. | Doch seinen rechtschaffenen Sinn empfiehlt angeborene Lauterkeit, und delphischer Lorbeer grünt auf der berühmten Stirn. | Jede Farbe stand Aristipp gut zu Gesicht. Die Muse selbst weist Koehler aus jeder Farbe Ehre zu). U. l. auf einem schräg angefügten „Zettel“ Widmung des Stechers „Pictam abs se pariter atque in aere exsculptam | tabulam cultus et observantiae in Virum | Magnificum suae qualecunque monumentum | L. m. offert Iohannes Kenkel | Norimbergae Anno | 1720.“"
