Verse von Marcus Zuerius Boxhorn (1612–1653), damals Prof. d.Bereds. in Leiden [A 1993–1996]: Qui docuit totum, totique agnoscitur orbi, / SPANHEMII vultum parua tabella refert. / Ingenium, et quidquid nescimus, suada docentis, / Et quae tot linguis lingua diserta valet; // / Et quidquid iam Leida stupet, non dantur in illa: / Hoc celi vitium deficientis habet: / SPANHEMII solo totus vir promitur ore, / SPANHEMII solâ pingitur ille manu.
