I[uris]C[onsultus,] / FOEDERAT[arum] PROVINC[iarum] HISTORIOGRAPHVS, ET HISTOR[iarum] IN ACAD[emia] LVGD[unensi] PROFESS[or] AET[atis] XLIV.“ In der Doppelvolute unten im Ovalrahmen „ANN[o] CHR[isti] | M D CII | MENS[e] OCTOBR[i]“. Im Oval o. M. lat. Devise „VINCENTI LAVRVS“ [Der Lorbeerkranz für den Sieger] wie in A 14009/10. – In der Brüstung in eingetiefter Tafel 4 lat. iamb. Verse von Daniel Heinsius (1580–1655), damals Prof. d.Poes. in Leiden [A 9173/74 u. 26421/22]: Hospes Bataui Merulae Vultum vides, / Qui sceptra Leidae sacra Musarum gerit: / Orbem dat Orbi: restat Externis nihil. / Terram Batavi fabricant, subdunt Mare. (Fremder, du siehst hier das Antlitz des Niederländers Merula, der in Leiden das geheiligte Musenszepter führt. Er gibt der Welt die Welt, für die Ausländer bleibt nichts übrig. Die Niederländer schaffen Land und unterjochen das Meer)."
