                "@value": "Allegorisches Porträt. – Altersbrustb. nach r. in schmalgerahmtem Oval, gegen eine auf breitem schrägstehendem Sockel stehende kannelierte Säule gelehnt, die girlandenartig mit benannten Ovalmedaillons griech. u. röm. Geistesgrößen behängt ist (o.: Homer, Hesiod, Isokrates, Demosthenes, Platon; herabhängend v. u.n. o.: Caesar, Cicero, Vergil, Horaz, Seneca, Plinius d. J.). Unter dem Porträtoval auf dem Sockel liegend 3 Bücher. Vorn r. stehen 2 Männer, von denen der eine, ein Kavalier, auf das Porträtoval zeigt, der andere, mehr ländlich gekleidete, auf einen im Hintergrund r. auf einer Anhöhe in einem Zyrpressenhain stehenden Rundtempel mit thronender Gottheit (Apoll auf dem Parnaß?); über dem Tempel fliegt in den Lüften Hermes mit einem Brief. – Im Sockel 3zeil. lat. Legende „SAMUEL SCHMIEDIUS | ILLVSTRIS QVEDLEI RECTOR | DIV IAM OPTIME MERITVS.“ Darunter anagrammatisches lat. Distichon mit Widmung „Paternae memoriae posuit“ des Sohnes Samuel Heinrich Schmid, Hofrat in Quedlinburg: Est Musis mirum dilectus et utilis usqve, / Iam pridem (verò) oh charior ille Deo! (Unglaublich geliebt von den Musen und ihnen unentwegt nützlich ist dieser, doch längst schon, wahrlich, Gott teurer). In der l. Sockelseite „Natus | XII. Mart. | MDCXXXII | Denatus | XVII. Dec. | MDCCVI.“ Darunter ov. Emblembildchen „Sustentando Soliditaur“ [Durch Aushalten wird er gehärtet] [Amboß unter Hammer in einer Schmiede <Namensbezug!>]. – In der Sockelbasis Stichdatierung „Ao. MDCCXI.“"
