Ovalumschrift „GOTEFRIDVS / THOMASIVS / PHILOSOPHVS / ET MEDICVS.“ – Unter dem Bild in zwei durch Doppelstrich getrennten Kolumnen je 4 distich. lat. Verse von Janus Broukhusius [= Jan van Broeckhuizen] (1649–1707), Soldat, Dichter u. Philologe in Amsterdam: Artis Apollineae multo Thomasius usu / Nobilis, et claris deditus in studiis, / His oculis, hoc ore, animato spirat in aere, / Egregium dextrae saecla domantis opus. // / Serta pio capiti, Pegnesides, addite, Nymphae, / Debita: cur vestrum sit sine honore decus? / Pro tot servatis date civibus, et servandis, / Quae cingat meritas querna corona comas. (Durch große Erfahrung in der apollinischen [d. i. Heil-] Kunst berühmt und in seinen edlen Studien aufgehend, | lebt Thomasius mit diesen Augen, diesem Mund im beseelten Kupferstich: er, das ausgezeichnete Werk der die Zeiten bezwingenden Hand [des Schöpfers]. // Fügt, pegnesische [d. i. nürnbergische] Nymphen, seinem frommen Haupte den verdienten Kranz hinzu: weshalb sollte er, der euer Stolz ist, ohne Ehre sein? | Gebt ihm für soviele gerettete und noch zu rettende Bürger den Eichenkranz, daß er verdientermaßen sein Haar bekränze!)."
